There was an article in the New York Times titled: "Some Democrats Are Sensing Missed Opportunities." In this article, there is an analysis of what is wrong with the Democrats.
From the grassroots level, I can tell you what I see is wrong with the Democrats. They are a bunch of "old farts" who are looking in the rear-view mirror, trying to re-live the glory days of yester-year.
They have no vision for the future. They know everything they are against and nothing that they are for. As much as I disagree with the Republicans vision of the future, at least they have one. Yes, we changed the world with our protests in the 60's, but we live in the 21st century now and the world has changed. We are never going to win any election as long as we keep living in the past.

I agree! In Seminole County, the problem seems to be a lack of leadership.
For example, when an established Democratic club implodes and disbands because nobody wants to step up and assume some responsibility for its continued existance, that is pitiful. When DEC and Democratic club officers resign during an election year for "personal reasons", that shows that there is not a cohesive team in place to mobilize our forces for the election day surge. Let's see less whining and complaining and more emphasis on positive teamwork. The strength of any organization is largely due to the interpersonal relationships team members have with each other, their interdependence and their willingness to work toward a common goal. Right now, I just see fragmentation.
Actually, I think it was probably a good thing that Dems Unite disbanded. I really don't begrudge anyone for having to resign for personal reasons. We are too fragmented.
As far as the current leadership, I think they are really doing their best but our attention is not focused. Carol Cox is doing a great job, but she can't do it alone.
We are so reactive to the Republicans, we have no effective strategy.
We are living in the past, trying to relive our glory day.
Maybe we should play the game:
"What would Jesus do?" and substitute, "What would Carl Rove do?" Maybe then we could understand that in order to win you have to have a winning strategy. We don't have one.
The last thing we want to do is attack each other. That for sure will get us no where. We need to put our heads together and figure out a plan. Our number one goal should be trying to figure what our message and our vision is, why should it matter, and how to get it out there so that people will hear and respond positively.
