Dear Mr. President

Haditha, Iraq Massacre and our soliders

Murders are found in every profession: postal workers, preachers, stock brokers, mothers, fathers, wayward children, etc. Unfortunately for us, when the murderer happens to be wearing a military uniform, it makes everyone in this country look like murders too because we've allowed it to happen. The recent news of the massacre in Hadithat, Iraq does NOT make me think that every American solider in Iraq is a monster. It is however, unfortunate that we have yet another black eye because of our involvment in this war. I don't think this is what anyone wanted to happen. Why have we allowed our country to be drug through the mud and be forced to wear this shame? We are not bad people, but the majority of people who voted for the neo-cons were fooled by a group of politicians who implied they spoke for God.
What kind of person would boast in the name of war and say, "Bring it on!" I'm sorry Mr. Bush, your apology is NOT accepted. It isn't good enough to just say, "gee-wiz, I'm sorry!" SAYING I'M SORRY DOESN'T MAKE IT OK! PLEASE RESIGN.

Corruplicans

Ain't it the truth!

Fallen Soldiers

I can not begin to even imagine how this mother must feel and my heart goes out to her and every other mother that has lost a child to this war. My heart is filled with sadness for them and I pray that we find peace in the Middle East. I hope this war wasn't only about oil.

New Book Examines Christian Nationalism

Journalist Michelle Goldberg, a senior writer for the online magazine Salon, and covers the Christian Right. In her new book, Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism, she writes that Christian nationalists believe the Bible is literally true -- and they want to see the nation governed by that truth.

The Christian Right's view of education is peppered in this podcast on NPR. The goal of this private college for Home Schooled Christian Children is something that people might want to consider. The idea that it is considered "polite" to not debate religion needs to be examined. Are these ideas "radical" and do they deserve real attention and examination? Is this the direction we want for our country? Do we need to examine an ideology that wants to replace civil law with religious law?

Ken Lay and the Enron Boys found guilty

Ignorance Claim Did Not Sway Enron Jury

GW Bush and the connection to the Enron Boys

Can people honestly believe that Ken Lay won't be pardoned by his pal GW Bush? Wasn't Ken Lay one of the biggest Bush supporters? Didn't half of Enron go to work for GW Bush or at least help hire almost everyone who works in the administration? Can we forget so easily that Ken Lay let GW Bush use the Enron jets to fly around this county while campaigning for his presidency? Do they not think that Enron’s business practices were condoned by our president with a smile and a wink? Does the American public not know that the Enron boys are the ones who helped draft or current energy policy? Are we really that gullible? Will the media forget to mention these things?

Bush, Blair Concede Missteps on Iraq

The sad thing about this whole affair is the fact that many of these missteps could have been avoided had Bush not been so self-righteous and convinced that he and he alone had God's anointing and vision for our country. Had the President possessed one ounce of humility the story might have been different. Instead he listened only to a small extreme group of neo-con advisors. The Bible says t hat PRIDE comes before a fall. How sad for this country that we have been led into this war by a group of contentious, self-righteous, arrogant, closed minded people and that we as a nation followed them…

2005 Pulitzer Prizes-The War in Iraq

Why again are we in Iraq?
Kevin Phillips said that it is because Saadam was going to start selling oil in currencies other than US dollar. That Iraq is considered to have more oil that Saudi Arabia. He says that Saadam was going to start selling oil in Euros’ to France and Germany and Russia and that he would soon have power to control the Middle East oil supplies. Saadam could have could have drastically hurt our economy. In order to remain the one Super Power, we have to control the Middle East Oil reserves. That's what I read in his new book. Of course the Republicans are not happy with him right now even though in the last decade he was their darling. Now his views are dismissed...

Nuclear Waste

So what I want to know is this: When we start talking about Nuclear Energy as a viable option to our dependence on Oil, what do we do with all of the nuclear waste?

Animal Rights and a grateful whale

According to Truth of Fiction.com and Urban Legends, this is a true story
If you read the front page story of the SF Chronicle on Thursday, Dec 14, 2005, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.

She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso and a line in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farralone Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off that they must act immediately. The only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her, a very dangerous proposition. Just one slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually she was freed. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around, as if she was thanking them...

Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same."

And you wonder why Animal Rights People get mad when they see cruelty toward animals.

William Rivers Pitt | An Open Letter to Richard Cohen

William Rivers Pitt An Open Letter to Richard Cohen

I love Truthout. I found out today that William Rivers Pitt is a former teacher who is outraged but what has happened in this country.
Here is a quote from his letter that sings truth loud and clear:
Why the anger?
It can be summed up in one run-on sentence: We have lost two towers in New York, a part of the Pentagon, an important American city called New Orleans, our economic solvency, our global reputation, our moral authority, our children's future, we have lost tens of thousands of American soldiers to death and grievous injury, we must endure the Abramoffs and the Cunninghams and the Libbys and the whores and the bribes and the utter corruption, we must contemplate the staggering depth of the hole we have been hurled down into, and we expect little to no help from the mainstream DC press, whose lazy go-along-to-get-along cocktail-circuit mentality allowed so much of this to happen because they failed comprehensively to do their job.
