How Illegal Timber Travels

Every day huge volumes of logs, many of them harvested illegally, stream toward Chinese factories where workers churn out products such as furniture and floorboards. These wares are shipped to major retailers like Ikea and Home Depot, and are bought by shoppers with little inkling of the wood's origins.

Very sad how prevelant deforestation is occurring throughout the world. Even in the US, whole sections of forests are being ripped appart to build bigger and bigger houses that take up more resources than ever before.

I find it sad that much of America has not waken up to the fact that bigger is not better! I continue to see the proliferation of mega-mansions being built in the US. All this tells me is that the problems with deforestation will continue to occur until people start fighting back and telling companies such as Ikea and Armstrong that they will not buy from their stores. Plus, consider down-sizing and living a more humble and simple life rather than trying to keep up with the Jone's.
