Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise

I've had a few days off from work and have been trying to pick up where I left off this summer. I wish there was more universities that offer degrees, seminars, certificates in sustainable development. Wikipedia had a good write up about the difference between what "sustainable development" and "green development." Both are important but with slight differences. Cornell and Yale are giants in these movements. I'm anxious to read Stuart and see hear what he has to say. I wish I could take some classes there...
Here are some important programs.

Sustainable Design

Link to book info:

Yikes! I haven't updated my blog for several weeks! I've been lost in a new book, by Jason McLennan called, "The Philosophy of Sustainable Design." It's well written, reads like a text book. Gives the history of Sustainable Design, who the giants are in the movement, how it got started etc. It gives the big picture and historical overview making it easy to see where we are at this moment in time. …A good book for anyone trying to get a better understanding of what needs to happen to move this agenda forward.

WATCH THE TRAILER:http://www.zeitgeistfilms.com/landscapes

This looks like it's going to be one of those films that sticks with you for a long time. Here are the places it is showing: Click here. (Guess where it is NOT showing.... FLORIDA or course. We like to hide our heads in that sand and pretend nothing is happening around us!)

solitude : march to everest 2004, originally uploaded by mojo.d.

I read today that Mt. Everest is in the process of being paved in preparation for the upcoming Beijing 2008 Winter Olympics. It really shocked me. It really shows how things are changing in China. Who woul dhave ever thought that would happen?

Florida is the Backwaters of Environmental issues

I was surprised today when I read “Clean Path to Power” in the Orlando Sentinel Sunday paper highlighting Florida’s recent discovery of Alternative Energy Sources. Balano seemed amazed at each example and marveled as though they were aliens who had visited us from another planet. We are so far behind Europe and Canada and soon China too. No wonder Bush refuses to sign the Kyoto treaty. It would be a national embarrassment because it would reveal to the world how far behind we lag in innovative green technology and sustainable growth practices as a nation. It would expose our arrogance and our ignorance of global environmental issues. Being a “slacker state” is no laughing matter. It does not speak well of our state at all.

Design e2: Building a new industry of sustainable
